Sberbank: Hackers prefer breaking into firms via employees

MOSCOW, Nov 7 (PRIME) -- Hackers now prefer to use large companies’ employees with the help of social engineering to penetrate the IT systems instead of doing it directly, a spokesperson for Russia’s biggest bank Sberbank told PRIME late on Wednesday.

“Phishing is used to deliver massive malware, like encoders, tools of remote control and botnets, as well as malware for sophisticated target attacks,” the spokesperson said.

Phishing remains the most effective way of breaking into companies, accounting for some 90% of all attacks. For financial institutions, in particular banks, it is one of the most urgent threats.
